"Checkmates" a new film by the Upright Citizens Brigade

I'd pay to see this spoof trailer greenlit into a feature film.

Of course, I grew rereading a book of chess every few months (I think it might have been "Judgment and Planning in Chess" by Max Euwe), recording games with algebraic chess notation and playing for money in high school ....

I see you want to run as major Chris, I will pray that for you...I hope you live openly for Christ, and live the word of God, if so, he might provide that major that you desire..

Hey, thanks for reading, but I really have no idea what you're talking about nor do I know a Brenden. If you would like to post comments in relation to my posts, that's great, otherwise, you're a borderline spammer.

Just to be clear, I am offended by your religious remarks. I am both an explicit atheist and antitheist and have been since age 12.

I respect the privacy of others to follow their own faith, and whole heartedly support it. You stay in your peaceful box and I'll stay in mine, but if you push your primitive religious beliefs on to someone else, especially me, you've crossed a line, and that I can not abide.

To wit, I'm not going to believe in any christ, be it Zoroaster, Jesus, Bahá'u'lláh or otherwise, least of all to win public office.

While prayer may work for you, those of us who reject the concept do not need any help being good or getting what we need from the ether of the universe. I hope that in addition to praying to Christ, you sacrifice a goat to Zeus, chant the names of Shiva, keep kosher and appeal to your family spirits at a Shinto shrine, because although the rituals make people feel better they have the same efficacy as circling the Kaaba or eating bread said to be a 2,000-year-old executed Jewish carpenter.

Humans need religion like fish need bicycles.

Christianity is become increasing irrelevant as science fills in the gaps where god used to reside. God has no place in the 20th century, just as facts have no place within organized religion. It's time to wake up and live rather than pray to vapor.

“I say quite deliberately that the Christian religion, as organized in its churches, has been and still is the principal enemy of moral progress in the world” - Bertrand Russell.

For an atheist critique of religious silliness, I recommend “Dogma,” “Religulous,” “Contact,” “Sigmund Freud & C.S. Lewis” “The God Who Wasn't There.” For books, read Stephen Hawkings' “Universe in a Nutshell,” “The Grand Design” and “A Brief History of Time,” Phillip Pullman's His Dark Materials series, starting with “The Golden Compass,” “Breaking the Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon by” by Daniel C. Dennett, “God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything” and “Is Christianity Good for the World?” by by Christopher Hitchens, “The God Delusion” by Richard Dawkins, “Holy Horrors: An Illustrated History of Religious Murder and Madness" by James A. Haught "The Gospel of Judas” by Bart D. Ehrman, Rodolphe Kasser, Marvin Meyer and Gregor Wurst, “The Dark Side of Christian History," by Helen Ellerbe, “Why I Am Not a Christian, and Other Essays on Religion and Related Subjects” by Bertrand Arthur Russell, “Why I Am an Atheist: Including a History of Materialism" by Madalyn Murray O'Hair , “2,000 Years of Disbelief: Famous People With the Courage to Doubt” by James A. Haught, “The Case Against Christianity,” by Michael Martin, “The Psychological Origins of the Resurrection Myth,” by Jack A. Kent, “The Fallen Star or the History of a False Religion and a Dissertation on the Origin of Evil,” by E.L. Bulwer [Lord Brougham], “Atheism: The Case Against God, by George H. Smith, “The Big Domino in the Sky and Other Atheistic Tales,” by Michael Martin, “Atheism: A Philosophical Justification,” by Michael Martin, “A History of God: The 4000-Year Quest of Judaism, Christianity and Islam” by Karen Armstrong [really excellent in showing how all Abrahamic faiths stole ideas from each other and neighboring tribes, but only the big three still remain], “Critiques of God: Making the Case Against Belief in God” by Peter A. Angeles, “Losing Faith in Faith: From Preacher to Atheist” by Dan Barker, “Nonbelief & Evil: Two Arguments for the Nonexistence of God” by Theodore M. Drange and "The Demon Haunted World: Science as a candle in the dark" by Carl Sagan and pretty much anything else by him, too.
